About my country: some background

Three syllables. Ma-lay-sia. I am a Malaysian. A Chinese Malaysian to be exact. What is a Chinese Malaysian?

Well, I’ll start with this: There are three main races in Malaysia –  the Malays, the Indians (Not those indians that wear colored features on their head and shoot things with arrows. For more information, please click this), and the Chinese (Malaysian that looks like they come from China)

Of course, there are other people who have immigrated to Malaysia long long ago, but these three are specifically written in the textbook, and are the ones I know more about, so…None of the races are lesser than the other. We all live here, we’re part of the country. Nah. That’s just how things are supposed to be, and what I hoped to be…

WARNING: If I wrote something that is inaccurate, or plain wrong, that’s probably because I’m writing this as a teenager from a Chinese background, who is not the best observer and don’t know everything about my country.

Anyway, contrary to a lot of people’s belief, although Malaysia is officially an Islamic country, how our country’s official religion works is probably how the US’ work. Not all of you are Christians, and not all of us are Muslims-if you haven’t figured that out already. Hinduism, Buddism, Christianity, or atheist or whatever that you want to believe in, you are free to do so as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody. Except if you are born in a Muslim family. That’s how it works. I have heard that they can go through procedures that make them not a Muslim, but I don’t know the details.

Here, we don’t have seasons. Just the weather. The most common ones are sunny, rainy, and cloudy. Every few months, there will be haze all over Malaysia, like this:

As you can see, everything is blurry. We will also have breathing problems at this time (obviously). Sometimes it gets so bad that schools are forced to stop operating for awhile.

I don’t think I can actually cover a lot now. So Imma just leave it at here now. Have a good day, hope you’re alright.Thank you for reading this.

About what to write on the blog

Well, I have no idea what to write about.

But I gotta.

Because if I don’t, I might just keep stalling, and stalling, and…OK I think you got the point – and then I’ll just forget about it.

Until one day, I stumbled across a website of WordPress.com, and somehow remember the blog I made a long time ago.

“Eh, whatever.” Then I’ll say, “What’s the point? It’s been so long. I’m not a good writer anyway.”

And then, I quit. Completely. Like I’ve never blogged.

I don’t want to.

A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.

That is the definition, isn’t it?

Nah. That is just one of the excuses I made up to stop myself from…well, stopping.

I want this to continue.

Even if I’m bad at writing.

Even if no one is reading my post.

Even if I have no followers except me. Curiously (or not), there’s an option to follow myself.

Even if there’s a hundred reasons why I should just stop this. Well, I only have two posts before this anyway.

*Knowing you might someday accomplish something with this…

*You are filled with determination.

Cheesy, huh?

Heh, sorry. I just keep failing these past years. Try not to be socially awkward? Failed. Trying to get decent grades? Failed instead. Try to play an instrument? Boy, the composers must feel so irritated about listening the distorted version of their masterpiece so many times. That is, if they can listen. Try to blog? Well, you read this, you tell me.

Well, at least I’ve learned some things…I think. I don’t know.

But hey. If you’re still reading, and don’t mind to read more…I’ll let you see for yourself. Continue reading

About this person who wrote this post

I should have thought this through. –me, 21st February 2017 in the morning.

Howdy!  I’m FLOWEY.  FLOWEY the FLOWER!  Not.

He and I are quite dissimilar beings, and there are many ways to differentiate us. One of them being: He knows how to introduce himself. I don’t.

Just kidding. But seriously. I don’t.

So I guess I’ll just write something about myself.

I’m from Malaysia, sixteen, currently still studying. Hobbies include reading, doodling, eating, watching Youtube, daydreaming, listening to music (I’m not so good at playing), trying to make sense of enneagrams & astrology, and others. I also happen to like the concept of pulling pranks but can’t seem to pull out any.

…I don’t know what I might write about, but it’ll probably be concerning events that happen in my life, my emotions and perspective towards things, and things about myself. Not because I’m narcissistic or self-absorbed, but because:

  1. I’ve got myself a blog, I should be responsible for it and write something.
  2. I’m not selling anything. Yet.
  3. I want to be able to speak my mind without overthinking about how people will react towards it. And for all I know, maybe no one will read this.
  4. I er… Don’t think I can talk about anything else.

Anyway, I apologise if I write things that offend you in the future. I could probably have phrased that better. Probably.

Also, about negativity…While it might not be the centre of my blogs, I still gotta write about it. After all, my thought are not all positive. What if my negative thoughts feel left out, you know?

Er…so…guess that’s it for now.

First blog post (I’m leaving it like this because it is going to be my first post)

Good day to everyone here! Well, if anyone is reading this.

By the way, the picture has nothing to do with this post. It’s just there so that if you feel like you’ve wasted your time, at least you’ve seen a picture of a kitten and a duck.

So, I guess I should explain why I started this blog? Alright, here we go.

1) It was recommended in an article I saw.

Therefore, I decide to try. After all, what harm could it cause? Er…As long as I don’t post things that is hurtful…I guess.

2) I’m a bit problematic.
I don’t pick up skills necessary in life as easily as most people. Or, at least most people that I know seems to be doing better than me. Grades, mentality, sports, character, common sense, ideas etc. For the love of strawberry cheesecake I don’t even know how to socialize naturally. I really don’t like working hard on things I don’t like to do ( which is quite a lot), even if I know I have to. I don’t exactly handle criticism well. (But by all means, comment if you feel like it)

And yes, I am aware that this will make me sound like a whining teenager who can’t handle life, who’s probably not going to survive in the adult world. Well, guess what? I am.

This is usually where people inspiring speeches, like: ‘Just because I am like this doesn’t mean I won’t grow to be a successful adult one day.’ But I’ll just leave it for next time, because it’s late and my brain is currently not in the right mind for such creativity.

  1. Anyway, I hope to encounter people who can relate to such things, so we can maybe try to help each other.
  2. I’m curious how people might think of teenagers like me.
  3. I hope that when things are hard, I could look at these posts and say: “You’ve written a blog, you’ll get through this. Don’t give up.”
  4. If, by any chance, I’m normal, I hope if other teenagers see this, they can be relieved that they are normal too.
  5. The list could go on.

3) I have no idea what to do with my life.

I hope that I would figure that out while reading what I wrote.

4) I read somewhere that people can potentially change the world by blogging.

Of course, I know that this is probably not gonna happen, but I want to be hopeful about it. Besides, I kinda promised that I’ll, at least, attempt to change the world. A promise is a promise.

5) To practice writing, while knowing people could be reading this. Emphasis on could.

I get nervous and usually ends up with giving up writing, or just totally rambling without caring about what I’m writing. Like now.

6) I’m bored.

Of course, what better reason is there than this?

Thanks for reading the whole thing. I really appreciate that. If you are going to continue reading, prepare for random topics, ramblings, sarcasm, potentially boring daily life, complains, jokes, potentially wasting your precious time depending on how you see it, dreams (sleeping dreams), strange stories that came out of nowhere, dreams (OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED, BE PREPAAAAAARED~~~) of a naive kid with issues, and many more! (No accountings, I suck at that. Believe me, I tried.)
